REST IN POWER: THE TRAYVON MARTIN STORY examines the killing of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin and the national reckoning that followed. Beginning with the events of the night Martin was killed, the six-part series reconstructs the case against George Zimmerman and the trial that ended in his acquittal, then follows the story outward as it becomes a catalyst for a new era of activism and a defining debate over race, guns, policing, and justice in America.
“An elaborate patchwork of interviews, vivid recordings, and critically important historical nodes… Jay-Z’s Trayvon Martin series is a triumph.”
The Guardian
“One clear goal of Rest in Power is to reframe the story as that of individual human beings and not as merely pawns in an ideological or societal struggle.”
IndieWire
“An overwhelming collage of interviews, audio and footage… expertly stitched together… Rest in Power’s unabashedly reformist laser-focus draws the throughline from his death to spark of the Black Lives Matter movement to the advent of the alt-right… more than just a record of Martin’s brief life and shocking death — it’s a call to action.”
